And The Winners (&losers) Are????

Well I have been critiquing all of the finey from the 2011 OSCARS and have compiled a fairly large amount of WINNING gowns - it has taken me all day :)

What was a great think to see what the varied range of designers being used and some that I haven't heard of which was super exciting.

I was thrilled to bits to see the effort that the stylists have gone to this year and although disappointed by the lack of disastors, and I think these OSCARS will be one the most stylish for a long time.

So here goes......

WINNERS

Reese - A bit boring but she looks great
Sandra - Didn't want to be there but still looks beautiful

My fav of the night! Love it!!

LOSERS

Are you really suprised??

Her stylist should be shot - her hips look gigantic!!

This is the worst dress I have ever seen Annie Hathaway wear

Words fail me - what decade does she think we live in?

Good grief!
I bet there are sure to be some talk about the list - like where is Cate Blanchett and Jac Weaver - both gowns I couldn't decide where to put - they weren't ugly but they just left me a bit empty....

In the men's stakes - well they all looked handsome with a special mention to Russell Brand for stepping outside the traditional black and white suit habit!

The leather tie and checkered shirt were respectful, irreverent and quirky - just like Russell!

The Luxury of Dior

I would love to spend a day at the House of Dior!

In my opinion they are one of only a handful of really elegant time lasting fashion designers.

DIOR
30, Avenue Montaigne
On 12 February 1947, the most beautiful story of fashion and luxury ever told to women began. It unfolded in Paris, on Avenue Montaigne. And the story was called 'Christian Dior'.
Dior was born from a big bang, on 12 February 1947. That day, Christian Dior presented his first Haute Couture collection at his young Fashion House. For women of the post-war era, weary from years of rationing and restriction, he opened the door to a wonderful world of re-conquered femininity. The 'New Look' was a revolution. Overnight, Dior became famous around the world. The Dior name became synonymous with magic: stunning dresses, enchantment, instinctive creativity, delightful audacity, a sense of elegance, the genius of expertise... Haute Couture, Ready-to-Wear, accessories, fragrances, cosmetics, jewellery, watchmaking, men's fashion: whatever the realm of creation, Dior's dream continues to blossom somewhere between legacy and modernity. A 21st century story...

Christian Dior  - genious!

Evening Gowns

Wouldn't it be lovely to live in the celebrity world and be given the chance to wear some of the most divine evening dresses.

With the OSCAR's now just a few weeks to go I am chomping at the bit to see what the nominees and presenters will be wearing.

Here are a few of my all time favourites - don't worry the Bjork swan dress does not feature!

And the winner is ....

Carrie Brandshow - Fashion Icon?

Can a character of an ultra stylish mega famous television show become a fashion icon?

I ask this question because Carrie Bradshaw is ficticious - so therefore did they really exist in the fashion world or can they stand the test of time.

Don't get me wrong - Carrie Brandshaw was a fabulous character as were all of the ladies of SATC but even the most couragous fashion forward woman would have trouble getting away with some of Carrie's outfits.

But I guess that's what makes fashion exciting, seeing someone with the courage to step out in something Patricia Field would be proud to call her own.

I've put together a small collection of some of the outfits that Carrie wore that I feel are "Carrie Iconic"!

I hope this outfit makes a museum!

The best dress she ever wore in the series

Arm Candy - Bangles

I love Arm Candy! Big, Chunky, heaps piled together, arm candy is fabulous!!

Bangles (Arm Candy) have been around for centuries in fact bangles made from shell, copper, bronze, gold, agate, chalcedony etc.—have been excavated from multiple archaeological sites throughout India.

Today bangles come in all different types of materials, shapes and sizes.

They can be bright and bold, yet elegant and understated!

A bangle or cluster of them can add so much to any outfit - be it t shirt and jeans or a LBD and heals - they have the ability to really set an outfit off!

Wardrobe Must - The LBD

The LBD or Little Black Dress for the uninitiated  is a must for any female wardrobe.

Traditionally the LBD is an evening or cocktail dress, in a simple cut and should be short - just above the knees.

It was high fashion preistess Coco Chanel who is often credited with cementing the LBD into the wardrobes of women all over the world and is said to have started in the 1920's.

She intended the LBD to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color.

And Audrey Hepburn made it fashionable in many movies during the 50's and 60's.

The LBD can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion: for example, worn with a jacket and pumps for daytime business wear or with more ornate jewellery and accessories for evening.

Because it is meant to be a staple of the wardrobe for a number of years, the style of the little black dress ideally should be as simple as possible: a short black dress that is too clearly part of a trend would not qualify because it would soon appear dated.

Chanel Ballet Flats

Im a bit biased but I think these are the most comfortable shoes on the planet.

And a big plus is they look very stylish and never appear to go out of fashion.

With the Australian $$ doing so well against the US$$ at the moment, it makes good sense to go online and pick up a pair for next to nothing - and so much cheaper than you can buy them for in an Chanel store here in Australia.

So ladies - treat yourself to some retail therapy today and buy some Chanel Ballet Flats!

Fashion Follower, Victim or Trend Setter

So which one are you?

Its easy to follow trends than to find your own style - but have you ever thought of the way you would really like to dress - its a scary thought, but one I wished more people had the courage to do!

I've been a follower with certain trends but now that I am in my mid thirties have decided that some things are better left to those of the tweens age group.

The 80's are currently creeping back in, and whilst I was only a little girl during this cooky fashion era - I would rather not participate in some of the out there designs that should have been left back in 1988!

So today - have a look in your wardrobe and decide - SO WHO AM I and what is my style.

Mine is eclectic - bits and peices of styles & pieces that never go out of fashion. Think nautical stripes - a classic trench - a tailored white shirt - you get my drift.
